Student Pastor

Purpose: The Student Pastor position exists to open doors for high school and college age to encounter Jesus and journey together in faith through the transitions inherent to their stage of life. Providing pastoral care for this age group requires an unparalleled commitment to the students and their growth.

Resources: This is currently a volunteer position with the potential for becoming a paid staff position. The Student Pastor will have ready access to the pastor and leadership as needed. He will prepare annual budgets and resource plans to the leadership so resources can be allocated adequately.

Accountability: The Student Pastor will meet regularly with the pastor as part of the regular staff meetings but will be supervised by the pastor directly with high expectations. The pastor will conduct quarterly evaluations with the student pastor for the purposes of encouragement and challenge.

Requirements: The Student Pastor is part of the leadership of the church. He is required to be an active, fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He must be faithful to the worship gatherings and the ministries of the church. His small group will be the high school/college group(s).

He will be required to be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who will engage this incredibly important age group with the vision of the church. Because of the pastoral role of this position, the Student Pastor must not only understand but fully embrace the vision of this church.

This is an extremely demanding position. It will require at least 10 hours of time in addition to worship gatherings and group meetings.

Oversight: The Student Pastor will oversee the ministries designed to engage High School and College Age members of the church. He may recruit volunteers as necessary. The Student Pastor will be responsible for presentation and disposition of the youth budget during the year upon approval by the board.
